Vogt Power to Supply HRSGs for Thailand Power Plant

Vogt Power International, a subsidiary of Babcock Power, has announced the receipt of an award from Toshiba Plant Systems & Services (TPSC) to supply the heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) for the Amata Nakorn: ABP3 combined cycle co-generation plant project located in the Mueang district, Chonburi Province, Thailand.



Vogt Power will design, engineer and deliver two HRSGs with exhaust gas bypass systems to operate behind two Siemens SGT800 gas turbines. In addition, a portion of the supply will be performed in Thailand through Babcock Power Thailand, a Thailand sister company of Vogt Power. The HRSGs will be Vogt's MSG design, which incorporates the ultimate in shop pre-fabrication and assembly, thus minimizing erection hours.



Amata Power (Bangpakong) Combined Cycle Power Plant is Amata Power's second power plant in the Amata Nakorn industrial estate. This is the second phase of the project, in which Vogt Power also supplied the HRSG for the combined cycle cogeneration power plant which has a generating capacity of 114MW and began operation in October 2001.

NTPC tenders equipment worth Rs 19,000 cr

The country's largest power producer NTPC has issued a bulk tender for equipment with an estimated value of Rs 19,000 crore ($4.22 billion). NTPC expects to award contracts within nine to ten months, said Platts in its magazine 'Power in Asia'.



The bid was launched after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the tender for boilers and turbines for nine 800-megawatt (Mw) supercritical units. Two will be installed at Lara in Chhattisgarh, three at Kudgi in Karnataka, and two each at Darllipalli and Gajamara in Orissa state.

Siemens AG to increase stake in Indian arm

Germany-based engineering and technology major Siemens AG is planning to increase its stake in the Indian subsidiary, Siemens Ltd, from the present 55.18 per cent to 75 per cent with an offer of 1 billion ($1.4 billion/Rs 6,215 crore).



The offer, announced this morning, triggered Siemens Ltd's share prices to rise 17.3 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to close at Rs 853.50 per share and touch a 52-week high of Rs 884.95 per share during intra-day trading.

Dubal-L&T to invest Rs 20,000 crore in Orissa

Even as Vedanta was facing acute bauxite shortage for its 1 million tonne from annum (MTPA) refinery after the Centre rejected mining plan at Niyamgiri, a joint venture firm today urged Orissa government to expedite its Rs 20,000 crore proposals in aluminium and power sectors.



A delegation of Dubai-based Dubal Aluminium Company and L&T, led by Abdullah Kalban, met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here seeking state government's help to set up alumina refinery, smelter and a power plant in joint venture.

GE to supply gas turbines to Sravanthi Energy 450MW project

The US-based GE Energy today said it would supply gas turbines to Sravanthi Energy for its 450 MW power project at Kashipur in Uttarakhand.



"Sravanthi Energy has selected GE's gas turbine technology for its new 450 MW power plant at Kashipur in Uttarakhand," GE said in a statement.
